Further Information | Discharged due to injury on head from accident on duty, during India mutiny. On the 27th November, 1857 after his arrival in Western Australia John Law Davis was made caretaker of the EPF cottages at Guildford. Several cottages were built in the vicinity of Surrey St and North Rd but only one was still standing in the 1940s. Among them was one called ‘The Retreat’ at 1 Surry St which was used by Law Davis – (Lot P114 – Title Deeds data SRO Cons 5000/477 – Davis). and remained the home of Law Davis until his death in 1870.
