In the 1851 Census of Scotland Francis Ultighan is living at 11 Gifford Park, St. Cuthbert’s Midlothian, Scotland with his wife Eliza aged 33, seamstress, born England. Frances is age 42 a Chelsea pensioner and ticket poster born Ireland.
In 1866 Francis was living on a property of 200 acres planted with vines, fruit and olive trees at Melville Waters near the mouth of the Canning River. The property was part of the estate of Charles Farmer.
