Discharge due to chronic rheumatism and general debility
Served in the campaign of the Scinde in 1842 and 1843 present at Meanee 17 February 1843 and Hydrabad 24 March 1843. At the taking of forts Punalla and Pownghur on 1st December 1844 and also the forts Monuhurr and Monsentosh January 1845.
John Peter McGrath died in the Old Somerset Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa, from senility. He was recorded as being a widower although we do not know the name of his wife.
