Discharge due to shot wound to a finger of the right hand previous to the march of the army from Moodkee to Ferozeshah
On 8th October 1846 Bernard McCaffry was found Not Guilty of having maimed himself by firing his musket whereby he lost the use of his right forefinger.
Bernard McCaffrey received treatment for a furunculus (abcess) on board the William Hammond
Sundry charges for theft, drunkenness and assault for Bernard and Ann for drunkenness. Bernard’s pension was suspended while in prison for larceny 1863.
In 1870 Bernard wrote a letter to the Editor protesting about the unjust attitude of the police towards pensioners.
23rd July 1884 Ann McCAFFREY (widow of Bernard) applied for poor relief
In the obituary for his son James it said Bernard claimed to have been born on the Plains of Waterloo in June 1815 which although our records say he was born at Derravoland Fermanagh it does suggest he was the son of a soldier.
