Further Information | British Army Worldwide index 1841James McAuley 1070 Private 48th Location Gibraltar 1851 As above location Weedon In the 1851 Census James McAuley is a Lance Corporal with his regiment at the barracks at Weedon, he is a married man but there is no mention of his wife. His WO97 shows he was a Corporal 1849-1850 but otherwise he is a private. Discharge due to a tumour of the thigh and stiffness of the knee joint. Death shown as James Mccolley in Death Transcript find-my-past website A Jane McAulay was admitted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital on 1st March 1870. She was aged 47 (ie born 1823), married, religion denoted by the letter P, living Adelaide, occupation servant and born Ayrshire Scotland – no ship of arrival documented. . James McAnlay(sic) was also admitted to Adelaide Hospital on 18th November 1876 age 68, a married man, Roman Catholic, labourer, born Cavan, living Flinders street, he had been 12 years in the Colony and had arrived on the Em(ily) Smith. |
