Further Information | 1859 Census of York Western Australia (SROWA) Harriet Burnside age 21 married C of E read and write Free arrived City of Bristol born Ireland married WA Harriet Burnside age 9 months C of E Free born WA 27 December 1880 Thomas Burnside wrote to the Superintendent of Police requesting he be re-instated in the Police Force accompanied by a petition from various member of the Toodyay district, however, that was denied despite his age and large family. He then wrote requesting the payment of a gratuity as he said he had served 10 Years 111 days in the Royal Artillery, 18 years 1 month in the Police Force and 5 years as a warder at Rottnest giving a total of 33 years 4 months service. The Superintendent of Police referred it to the Board who turned down the application .SROWA Cons 430/30/038 & 30/105 detailed report of his service. There is quite extensive coverage of his time in the police Force and why he resigned in 1865 and 1880 as well as the other disciplinary actions against him 1863 nominated wife’s mother DALTON Julie and brother DALTON Lawrence as assisted immigrants.
